No tax riles me more than the local property tax that pays a state's constitutional obligation to fund schools from state taxes, and a county's obligations to fund their services from their income and sales taxes and revenue sharing. Why does our local property tax pay for county and state obligations?
Our state legislators are to blame for our high property tax in Wisconsin! Your State Senators and State Representatives and Governor decide how to tax people. Their large contributors to their campaigns like the high property tax on homes and farms. Campaign contributors do not want the tax on their large incomes.
Lawmakers can see that if their contributors have more income, they can give bigger donations.
And, the people stand by watching.
